Documents checklist
Bring what applies to you. A photo of each form is enough.
Everyone
Photo ID. Social Security number or ITIN for each person on the return. Last year's return, if you have it. Bank routing and account number for a direct-deposit refund.
Income
W-2 from each job. 1099-NEC, 1099-K or 1099-MISC for self-employed or gig work. 1099-INT, 1099-DIV and 1099-B for interest, dividends and investment sales.
Deductions and credits
Form 1098 for mortgage interest. Form 1098-T for tuition. Child care costs and the provider's tax ID. Form 1095-A if you had Marketplace health coverage. Receipts for charitable gifts.
Self-employed and business
Income and expense records or a profit-and-loss sheet. A mileage log if you drive for work. Estimated tax payments made during the year.
